North Stafford Hockey Club runs a thriving Back to Hockey programme, offering beginners and returners to the sport the opportunity to get involved with our fantastic sport.
Sessions are held every Monday at Newcastle-under-Lyme School, 6pm-7pm, throughout the season and are open for anyone to attend. These sessions are completely free of charge and sticks can be provided if required.
The sessions run alongside some of our junior training, so a number of parents have used this to take up the sport themelves, whilst we have had new members of all backgrounds join and have a fantastic experience.
Coached by Thomas Cruxton and Rich Halket, all participants are able to learn the fundamental skills, whilst playing in a fun, relaxed and enjoyable environment, with plenty of game play. There have then even been opportunities for players to go and represent the club in Back to Hockey tournaments (pictured above).
A significant number of these players have then transitioned on to play for our Men's or Ladies teams, and the success of Back to Hockey has been crucial in the foundation of new teams such as Ladies 4s and Men's 6s.
We continue to welcome new players, with sessions running weekly from September-April. Simply turn up, play and enjoy our fantastic sport.
