A major part of the Jack Dulson Hockey Academy is delivering hockey coaching in a number of local schools. These sessions are delivered by one of our coaching team, this year primarily by Annette Berg, and are heavily subsidised for schools at a rate of £15 per hour.
The purpose of this is to encourage as many young people as possible to be active, engage with our sport and to play hockey. From this we hope that a number will share a love for the sport that Jack held and decide to take the sport further in the future by joining our club.
Primarily we have worked with local primary schools, delivering sessions at lunch times, after school or as part of curriculum time PE. In addition we are looking to run more mini-tournaments in the future to provide extra opportunities for young people to play the sport competitively. This will be supported significantly by our partnership with Trentham Academy and the associated NSHC-CLT Community Strategy.
The programme has now been running for two years and we have worked with over a dozen local schools in that time, including Langdale Primary School, Friarswood Academy, Hassell Primary, Hempstalls Primary School and St Wulstans Primary, along with many more.
We are consistently looking to extend our offering to other schools, so if you would like to be involved in this in the future, please contact Head of Junior Hockey, Dave Washington, at northstaffordhcjuniors@gmail.com
